Lest We Forget.........

The Prayer of Daniel, For Christians in America

O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments; we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your Word and Your Way. Neither have we heeded Your servants who have spoken in Your name to our leaders and to us.

O Lord; righteousness belongs to You; but to this day, we are ashamed of our wickedness.
O Lord; to us belongs shame of face; to us and to our leaders, because we have sinned against You!

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; although we have rebelled against Him, and are undeserving of that mercy and forgiveness.

We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God; to walk in His ways, after His Law, which He set before us by His Servant! Yes; we have all sinned against Your Law; therefore the natural consequences of our sins have found us out, resulting in the trials and tribulations that we now experience. And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and our leaders by bringing upon us these trials and tribulations; but even our current deserved troubles are nothing to be compared with the troubles that faced His Church of old ( Praise God! ) !

As it is written in Your Word; all these troubles have come upon us yet have we not laid our prayers before You, that we might turn from our iniquities and better understand Your Truth! Therefore the Lord has kept the troubles in mind, and brought them upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all that He does, even though we have not fully obeyed His Word!

And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of Egypt, and redeemed us through Your Son, Jesus the Christ, for Your name's sake; we have sinned, we have done wickedly!

O Lord; according to all Your righteousness in Jesus Christ; let Your anger and fury be turned away from Your Church, from Your holy People, because for our sins and iniquities, Your Church has become a reproach to all those around us!

Now therefore, O Lord our God; hear the prayer of Your servant(s), and our supplications, and for Your own name's sake, cause Your face to shine upon your people, who have been troubled. O our God; incline Your ear and hear, open Your eyes and see the troubles of this People which is called by Your name; for we do no present our prayers before You because of our own righteousness, but because of Your great Mercy!

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for the sake of Your Church, and Your People who are called by Your Name! Amen!

On the morning of the 10th annniversary of the attack of '9-11', I went to check my mail, and the first thing I saw was this, and it's everywhere; you can't get away from it! It's all about honoring those who fell, whose lives were lost in this great tragedy, and in the ensuing war, even, but nothing about the greater ( infinitely so ) tragedy, that nothing is said about honoring God, or about the greater loss that this country ( corporately ) has sustained through the loss of God's covenant blessing! As this day, the tenth anniversary of the WTC tragedy, is memorialized for posterity, let this sad event in our recent history, rather than causing us to simply reflect, and then go on with life as usual; lead us to a heartfelt repentance, and a return to the knowlege and ways of our Creator-God, our Father Almighty!

On the first annniversary of this tragedy, Flip Benham offered this timely message, in challenge, to a group of business men in North Carolina;

When will America learn to repent, instead of simply remembering?

Here are a few comments from our governing elder and one of our teaching elders, concerning this memorable event.

'Ourorobos'

For far too long, the Body of Christ in America has been far too lax in Her responsibilities as the wife of God; in fact, to many people, She has become 'The Venemous Wife'!

There is a growing trend, not only in America, but around the world, alarming to some, but a promising sign to others; many people, whether strong or weak Christians, have begun to leave what is called 'the institutional church ( AKA 'Organized Religion' ) in droves. This is happpening for several reasons, but the main reason, I believe, and the reason we must focus on here, is that the Church *has* become venemous, and like that famous symbol of 'ouroboros', has been devouring Herself, in Her often mis-guided effort to remain 'pure', or to purify Herself!

History has shown us ( Hitler and the Third Reich, for example ) that these efforts fail, and usually miserably. Reading a bit of the history of 'apartheid' in South Africa, though well-intentioned according to their understanding of Holy Writ, these actions were soon realized to be detrimental, not only to society, but to their standing among the other nations of the world. Other stains upon the Church are evident throughout history: the atrocities committed by the Roman Catholic Church throughout the ages since its inception are remembered with shame by some, and horror by others.

As in the prayer above, there is much need for repentance, and even more room for improvement! The Church at large, the Body of Christ, has seemingly forgotten that, as the living image of Christ, or God, She is to reflect that image of God to the world He has entrusted to Her stewardship: as Solomon said in his Proverbs ( 31:27 ); 'she watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness'.

Although many churches have done much good, being well intentioned in their misunderstanding and misapplication of God's Word, as many more have retreated within their own four walls, their 'box' if you will, in a mis-guided effort to remain 'pure and unspotted from the world' . They watch and wait faithfully for some future event to provide an escape from 'this present evil age' , and seem to have forgotten that we are to be a light, to be Christ to this world, and through Him, and by His power, to bring all in subjection to Him!

We need to wake up from our slumber of comfortable apathy, as many of God's people are doing, whether it be within or without the confines of the 'institutional church', and shine forth the light of God's Truth in this dark and forbiding world!

With God's strength; we will do it!!!!!!!!

The Venemous Wife

Let's face it,  the history of the Church, particularly of the American Church, doesn't need a whole lot of stretching to be compared with the Old Covenant 'children' of Israel, the congregation in the wilderness, sometimes! Is it any wonder that many in the mainline church are calling this 'the Laodicean age'? Sure; there are pockets, which have existed throughout the history of the Church, that have stubbornly stood in defense of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, but too many others have exhibited a 'Laodicean' lukewarmness.

Many Christians today make a livelihood, almost, from condemning 'sin', or evil, wherever it might rear its ugly, venomous head, but most don't stop to think that the Church itself, as the new priest-hood of God, has, in many areas reneged, or else absolutely refused to be the Wife that Solomon described in the latter portion of Proverbs 31.

This is not meant to be a comprehensive study of Proverbs 31, though that should doubtless be on the menu, but verse 11 says of this virtuous wife, 'The heart of her husband safely trusts her'. As the Wife of God; the Church has not had a very good history in that respect, but the fact that God's Kingdom has been growing since its genesis is due solely to the the glorious fact that 'If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself' (
II Timothy 2:13 ). This does not absolve us of responsibility for this careless 'oversight', this horrible neglect, and our apathetic refusal to 'get involved'! As before; there has always been that faction that has labored virtuously for the Kingdom, striving to be the best  'Proverbs 31 wife' she can be; don't get me wrong! On the whole, though; far too many have abdicated their role of leadership, except within the four walls of their church, to..................you name it: the state, or federal governments, which are growing more God-less and anti-Christian, it seems, by the day, and then we wonder why our culture, which we are supposed to shape, and not the other way around, is in such deplorable dis-array: it's because the Church herself is in such dis-array!

I have recently had the unspeakable privilege, and thus, blessing, of listening to a series of sermons on the Revelation, preached by a very good friend of mine, an elder at Covenant Community Church, of Whitehall, Montana. In this series, particularly on Revelation 11; he really brought home the fact that one reason for the seeming decay of much of the Church, is because of a lack of correct, covenantal worship. Going off on a bit of a rabbit-trail here; the book of Revelation is just that, the Revelation of Jesus the Christ, revealing Him for Who He said He was, the very Son of God, God Himself! For too long; the Wife of God has almost obliterated this fact; divorcing the book from its meta-narrative, and seeking salvation in its pages. By this; I simply mean that far too many Christians seem to be seeking an escape from this 'world', and their responsibilities in it, as 'the Israel of God'!

Back to the subject now; God's Wife, across the ages has had an adulterous history, sordidly like that of old covenant Israel herself, as laid out, most notably, in the prophecy of Hosea. You might be thinking, 'Whoah; that's kinda strong language!' Yes, it is, but probably not strong enough! The words 'too little, too late' come to mind. But we, as the people of the Almighty God, Creator of all, know that this is not true! If the Wife of God would begin to do her job, 'facing up' to her responsibilities, and watching over the ways of her household ( the 'world' ); coming back to a true covenantal worship of God, in all aspects of life, and every hour of ever day; then she may begin to have the effect she is predestined to have, upon the 'world' around her!

Throughout her 'colored' history; the Church has committed much idolatry, adultery even, with foreign gods, and committed many atrocities in the name of her Husband, with almost the opposite effect from what she was supposed to affect, taking rather than having, and forcing her religion upon the nations, rather than spreading the true religion of God that the apostle James talked about, in James 1:26 & 27. When we begin to remember, as a corporate whole, one complete entity, and that it is all about Christ, and the true religion of God, and not about any man-made religion; then perhaps we will begin to effect a change in the 'world' around us.

Our culture, the 'world' around us, we often forget, belongs to God, and through our relations with God, to us. Because of a mis-understanding, or total lack of understanding of our covenantal relationship with our Creator, and denial of His words in the Revelation, 'The kingdoms of this world have become [ the kingdoms ] of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!'; the Church has, again, over the ages, and especially within the past couple hundred years, more or less, adopted a policy, seemingly, of 'wait and see'; we have not fulfilled our covenant duty as the wife of God to get involved, to be the Proverbs 31 wife He has made us, extending our hands to the poor, and supplying sashes for the merchants.

May we  remember, before 'the silver cord is loosed,a]"> or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the well' (
Ecclesiastes 12:6 ), that, as the Bride of Christ, the New Covenant Wife of God; we are up to the task, and if we meet it head on, our own works will be our praise in the gates, or as Jesus said, 'that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven'. This being our prayer; let us act upon it for the glory of God and for His Kingdom!

 Leeks & Melons

The people of God, or the Church in America, has abdicated Her throne for the 'leeks and melons' of Egypt, for the cold comfort of slavery, rather than rocking the boat, and asserting Her God-given rights and authority, and excercising the rule and dominion that we have been entrusted with. David tells us, in Psalm 115:16b, that 'the heaven, [ even ] the heavens, [ are ] the Lord's, but the earth He has given to the sons of men'. This is by right, our land, our nation, our stewardship, and we have been called by our Almighty Creator and Father to exercise dominion over it, and to bring all into subjection to Him!

We have not done this, and so, in this county, have suffered the loss of the greater part of our freedoms and liberties. Child-murder, more commonly known as abortion, is rampant in this nation, divorce is destroying families everyday, homosexuality and other perversions are stealing our youth, and society as a whole is going down the tubes. Our Federal Government, for too long, has been spending and printing fiat money and putting our country deeper in the pit that we have dug for it, so that it seems that even our grandchildren may never see the light of day!

There have been, and are more still, as the Church is being woken up, those within the Body of Christ that stubbornly and vivaciously resist this tyranny, but too many others have followed the status quo, and have voluntarily bowed to the god/state, and embraced it as their savior!

We, as a nation 'under God', must repent as a whole, a corporate Body, and then begin to worship the One true God with our whole heart, strength and mind; if we do this, truly return to the Lord our God, and walk in His ways; this nation will once again reap the blessings of the Covenant!
